A friend recommended this place quite a few years back. She would take her family there to take some lovely family photos. Reeves-Reed Arboretum is very local to us, and there is no entrance fee. I wish I had gone there sooner. However, you need to find the exact address and directions, as the place blends in with the residences around the area. If I were just driving by, I wouldn’t think that there is anything there.
Wisner House is in the heart of the arboretum. They house exhibits, and run some really great programs for kids and adults. They also have a library in there that focuses mainly on gardening and botany.
“Wisner House is a Colonial Revival shingle-style house designed by New York architects Babb, Cook and Willard in 1889. Wisner House is Reeves-Reed Arboretum’s administrative headquarters. It is open Tuesday to Friday (9:00 am to 5:00 pm) and for special events. Wisner House Gallery is also open on Saturdays in March through October from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.”

There are also some lovely programs offered at Reeves-Reed Arboretum. While we came there just for a lovely walk outside, I would love to participate in a few of them sometime soon. You can find the schedule for the “Discovery Saturdays” right HERE. While Discovery Saturdays sound great for kids, Reeves-Reed offers many other programs that would be very appealing for adults. To check out their special events and programs look HERE. Of course, don’t forget to check their WEBSITE for hours of operation, directions, and much more.
As I mentioned above, the purpose of our visit was to go for a lovely walk together. Everyone enjoyed it very much. After all, how could you not enjoy something so beautiful. There are more formal gardens, as well as trails through a forest. We spend an easy few hours discovering the place and enjoying a beautiful day there.
