We love the Nature Center in the Watchung Reservation. When a friend invited us to go for a hike by the Environmental Education Center in Lord Stirling NJ, I jumped right on.
I got directions, put my kids in a car and we were on my way. Just a note: pay attention to the directions you get online, both me and one of my friends got a bit lost and had to ask for directions. Make sure that you look at the map to see exactly where you’re going.

We only briefly visited the center while there. It is a neat little place, and from what I hear they have some amazing classes. They had an interesting art exhibit by high school students. There were also a bunch of cute souvenirs that you could purchase to support the place. Plus a few nature related displays. I am looking forward to exploring the center more at a later time.
However, what we were there for was a hike. It is a marvelous place to hike. The hike is manageable for even the smallest of children, the path is even and easy to walk on. It is beautiful, peaceful and a great place to unwind, relax, and meditate, yet it still has plenty for energetic youngsters to discover, touch, feel and explore. I loved the fall colors, the rustling of the leaves under my feet, the calm of the pond, the way the sun came through the trees and the tall grass.
We really enjoyed it with our kids and friends. We will definitely be back, especially for some of those amazing classes I heard so much about.
